NATIONAL COACHING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
(Requirements)
Community-Initiation: Mandatory for Mini Tyke and Tyke Head and Assistant Coaches
Community-Development: Mandatory for Novice and PeeWee Head and Assistant Coaches as well as Bantam C and Midget C Head and Assistant coaches.
Competitive-Introduction: Mandatory for Bantam A & B and Midget A & B Head and Assistant Coaches.

Note:The remainder of the 2008 NCCP coaching clinics are all online. No further clinics will be added for the current season.

- Prerequisites:
- Completion of Community-Development
- To challenge Community - Development, applicants must receive approval from the ALA office and purchase and complete the Community Development Workbook. Workbooks must be handed into the ALA office 2 weeks prior to attending a clinic. Applicants must attend a clinic in the same year in which they challenge Community Development. CANADIAN LACROSSE ASSOCIATION 2008 RULES OF EMPHASIS
Officials are expected to implement these published Rules of Emphasis consistently, no matter what the time of game, the score on the floor, or floor strength of the teams. Click here to download.
OFFENSE/DEFENSE RULES
The new practice of running a split bench with players designated to only play in the offensive zone and others in the defensive zone, when even strength, is not permitted and will be enforced:

REPEAT OFFENDERS
Any player or coach who is involved in 3 or more major penalty incidents or misconducts or any combination will be treated as a repeat offender and disciplined accordingly.

TYKE & NOVICE FORMAT REMINDER
Mini-Tyke Format
- 3-on-3
- Game lengths:
- 15 minute warm-up, three 15 minute periods
- Running time
- Players on floor for 3 minute intervals
- Play the width of the floor at the West Soccer Centre & full floor on the mini floors at the East Soccer Centre
- Play with the shooter tutors. If there is a difference in the number of holes each team's shooter tutor has, please switch half way through so it is fair for both teams
- No contact
- No referees - coaches manage the floor
- No penalties - stop when necessary to explan infractions
Tyke Format
- No two-line rule
- No 30-second clock
- Play with the tyke boards
- Super Star rule is in effect
- Only 3 goals by a single player will count toward the score.
- If more are scored they will be treated as a goal (face-off) but will not show on the scoresheet or scoreboard.
Novice Format
- Regular box rules apply
- No two-line rule
- Play with the 30-second clock
