Coach and Trainer Certification

Current VSS required – Contact your member club directly. This must be uploaded to your STAFF RAMP registration

Trainer Certification Requirements

Trainers must have the appropriate certification. Appropriate certification is defined as one of the following:

  • Any St. John Ambulance Emergency First Aid course of 8 hours or more
  • Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & Basic Rescuer CPR course
  • Canadian Red Cross Sport First Aid course
  • Any CAHA Hockey Trainer’s Certification Program - Level 2
  • A professional designation such as MD, RN, Physiotherapist, Policeman, Fireman, Chiropractor, or Registered Massage Therapist
From the above, please be clear: CPR as a stand-alone certification is NOT an equivalency.

Trainer Recognition

Lacrosse Canada recognizes only one trainer per team to address those specific activities. These activities do not include coaching athletes.

Proof of Certification

A photocopy of a trainer certification card provided by the approved groups should be attached to the Member’s Bench Personnel form. This must be loaded to your STAFF RAMP registration.

Coaches and Trainers must be able to provide proof of certification if requested.

Non-Canadian Coaches and Trainers

Non-Canadian Coaches and Trainers must meet the certification requirements or provide an acceptable equivalency from programs in their home country or country of residence.

Game Sheet Requirements

All bench personnel, including coaches and trainers, are required to sign the game sheet prior to the game.

  • Coaches must indicate their coaching number
  • Trainers must list their certifications
